Here Comes The Sun

Saturday, May 31, 2008

"Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right..."
-The Beatles

Summer has finally arrived, it seems, as the sun is now making regular appearances and I'm feeling inspired by it's bright warmth and the cool nighttime breezes.

Warm weather style is all about effortless chic. Whether your dressing for day or night, casual, formal or somewhere in between, the goal is to keep your look fresh and flowing, but still completely pulled together...as though you've just run in from the pool with only a few minutes to make yourself fabulous.

Missing Communities

This isn't going to be your usual post from me...don't worry, I'll be back later with some great summertime looks. But for now, I want to bring to your attention, dear readers, some new information about the SL5B Celebration. The official announcement reads, in part:

"Each year, on the date that Second Life came out of beta (June 23rd 2003), Residents and Lindens have gathered to celebrate the amazing world we’ve been creating. This June 23rd, our community marks its Fifth Birthday, and the volunteer Birthday Team (who has been planning this party since last year) picked a theme that will be hard to resist– “Celebrating the cultural diversity of Second Life”."
However, this year, several cultural communities within SL will be left out of the festivities. The SL Children communities, as well as Gor and BDSM communities have been banned from participation. When the event was announced on the Second Life blog, it was made clear that this event would be created by and for the residents.
"This is a Resident-created, Linden Lab-sponsored event, which means that Linden Lab has donated the land and various basic resources, but the rest comes from you, the community."
It appears this is no longer the case. You can read more about this travesty by visiting the blogs of those who are able to speak on this subject far more intelligently and eloquently than I. Writers such as Tateru Nino of Massively.com, Vint Falken, Dusan Writer, among others have added their voice to the cause. (Actually, Vint has an excellent list on her site).

I ask you to please vote for the Missing Cultures and Communities from SL5B Jira issue reported by Vint Falken.

SPIRIT into Spring!

Friday, May 30, 2008

I absolutely love the work that SavannahAnn of SPIRIT does for her dance and cheer attire but she has come up with such a creative concept...Her spring line offers the chance to have a little bit of dance and a little bit of hottness all in one box. You can mix and match between 3 different sleeves and 5 skirts (1 scripted and 1 ao with arms). It also comes with the delicate laced ballet shoes also. I just love this because you can take it out of the classroom and out to an event and still look great. The boots she has created along with this line are adorable as well. They are uniquely crafted with ribbons and come in black or white bases. I also wanted to mention the skin I am wearing is one of her newest called Juliet, it is a very natural, beautiful skin that I will love to wear as my favorite. Thank you SavannahAnn for your amazing work and time. I am always excited and in suspense to see what you will come up with next. I also want to mention that these dance animations that were used in this post are also new at SPIRIT. Please see the jump for more pics and outfit details.

What I am wearing:
SKIN: SPIRIT skins-Juliet-Pink/Brown Dark
EYES: Glanz-Fresh Blue
HAIR: tutu-PE-Black-Iseult Kohl
Aden-blonde-Sarah
Ballet outfit: SPIRIT Ballet White Floral Corset/Tutu Outfit
(ballet shoes included)
Boots: SPIRIT Spring Ballet Boots

Poses are available individually at this time but in the near future there will be a fatpack option. :)

The colors for the Ballet outfits come in many options: Blue Bows, Green Floral/Cream, Green Floral/Grape, Green Floral/Olive, Green Floral/Rose, White Floral/Lavendar, White Floral/Lilac, White Floral/Pink, and White Floral/Roseleaf

Mix and Match Results

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Last week, I showed you three different looks you could achieve by mixing and matching different pieces in your wardrobe with a good corset. I was so curious to see what you guys would come up with that I asked you to send in your best shots and I was not dissapointed! You guys put together some very unique looks. Follow the jump for a peek at my top three!

The first one is from Ashleigh Dickins.

By adding a pair of simple black pants and some great silver heels to a sexy blue corset, Ashleigh created a great look for a night on the town. It's sexy but still casual.

Our next look is from Rhodesy Durant.

Rhodesy paired her corset with a great purple skirt and an updo to create a colorful and pretty spring look. Casual yet chic, this outfit is perfect for a leisurely day of shopping and lunch by the lake.

Our final look is from Syldath Durant.

Cheers to Syldath for reminding us that underbust corsets can be taken out of the bedroom too. Syldath took this sexy underbust design and paired it with a stylish top and black leather pants for a chic, strong, and sexy outfit. This one screams "Come and get me...if you dare."

I think these three readers created very different looks that show how versatile corsets really are. They are a staple in my wardrobe, and I hope they will be in yours too.

Beach Babes

Monday, May 26, 2008

Since Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, I thought I'd skip the lingerie post today and talk about something more appropriate. Though, I suppose one could argue that swimwear is the lingerie of the beach, so on with the post!

Ladies, it's swimsuit season!

Yes, I know...the two most dreaded words in fashion. But, it doesn't have to be that way in SL. There are thousands of cute swimsuits out there to be had and, of course, I'm going to show you a couple after the jump.

This Gothy Bikini is the first swimsuit I bought in SL. A couple of friends took me to Canimal, and though I wasn't looking to buy a swimsuit, I just could not leave the store without it. I love the belts under the bust and around the waist. The mesh middle lends a very sexy accent as well.

Reaction Girls came out with what has to be my favorite bikini set to date: Skullies. I adore the little crossbones on the back of the thong bottoms, and it comes with board shorts, which I wore to a Beach Party at MDR last week. They are super cute, and great when you want a little bit more cover than the thong bikini bottoms provide. I also got the most adorable thong sandals there. They were too cute to pass up.

My third swimsuit is a new release from PixelDolls: Gloss. The VIP group recieved this very sexy and shiny swimsuit in Indigo and while that is not usually my color, I thought it went very well with my platinum blonde hair. While quite a traditional suit, the details in SL are hard not to notice: the bottoms look as though they would love to slip away, and the prim tie in the back lends an uncommon level of realism.
After a busy day at MDR, I decided to take these suits out to the beach to see how they held up and they looked great while I frolicked in the water.

And soaked up some rays...

My friend Rhodesy Durant showed up and I encouraged her to join me in soaking up some of those SL rays. She donned one of her favorite suits, the O2D Sequined Bikni she snagged from Oxygen Designs. It's purple and glittery, made of sequins, and very her. We had a ton of fun playing in the surf and showing off our fabulous suits. Yay for summer!

Oh, don't forget to get your corset mix and match entries into me by Tuesday evening. (Please see my previous post for more details.) I will post the top three entries in my post on Thursday, so be watching the blog to see if your photo ends up in the blog!

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day!

Chouchou et Chocolat

Saturday, May 24, 2008

The first time I met my very dear friend CodeBastard Redgrave, she was wearing the most gorgeous dress covered in sparkling red paillettes. A gift, she said, from her friend Eshi. Like a fool, I only nodded and complimented it's beauty, never asking more about the designer.

A couple of weeks later, I received an invitation to a taping of Tonight Live with Paisley Beebe at the SLCN studios. The featured guests were to be Eshi Otawara of Chambre du Chocolat and the musical group Chouchou. Finally making the connection between Codie's friend Eshi and Chambre du Chocolat, I visited her boutique for a look around and instantly fell in love with the glowing, ethereal Smokey Tux Dress.

Having visited the seductively barren Chouchou sim before, I knew at once that this dress would photograph beautifully there. I wasn't disappointed.

Because the dress is so captivating in its composition and movement, I chose to keep my accessories simple.

The dress does come with a pearl choker that is lovely, but I chose to wear black pearls to accentuate the smokiness of the gown itself.

I chose a simple updo from ETD that had some volume to balance the width of the skirt. I also opted for the Diamond Bee Ring from Paper Couture that I am in love with and tend to wear with just about everything.

Please click on the pictures for a larger version. You can also find more photos on my Flickr page.

Corsets Are A Wardrobe's Best Friend

Thursday, May 22, 2008

One of the reasons I love corsets is that you can take them out of the bedroom. As part of the right outfit, you can wear them almost anywhere. It's all about how you mix and match. Each corset could be worn several different ways, depending on what you pair it with. Let me show you some outfits I came up with using the corsets from my previous post.

This red corset from Toxic just screamed Burlesque in my head the moment I put it on, and that's what I kept in mind while trying to come up with an outfit. Paired with the Dead Naga Mini from Kyoot Army and the stockings and vinyl boots from FallnAngel Creations, I got the great sexy look I was going for. The ETD Charley hair in Scarlet added the perfect finishing touch to what has become one of my favorite club outfits.

Being the Gothy girl that I am, I couldn't resist the temptation to turn the *DG* Innovations Distinguished corset into a goth outfit. I opted for the skirt from my Last Call Femme Fatale dress, added some finishing touches, and I had the perfect outfit for a Gothy night out. But that's just me. You can pair this corset with just about anything. The possibilities are limitless.

I wanted to go casual with the blue corset from Baiastice so I dug through my inventory and found this cute pair of jeans from Cupcakes. I added some wedge heels from Paper Couture and some bangle bracelets to complete the look. But it still wasn't quite finshed. And then I remembered my Rock Star belt from Celestial Studios! I love this belt. It gave the outfit just the right touch of attitude; casual yet still sexy.

Corsets are wonderful in the bedroom, of course, but don't be afraid to take them OUTof the bedroom as well. Mixing and matching to create completely new looks is one of the best things about our extensive SL inventories. In fact, I'd love to see what all you Glamourazzi girls can come up with. So if you have a favorite corset, do some mixing and matching with your inventory and send me a photo of your favorite new outfit along with the model info so we know what you're wearing and where to get it. You can put it all in a notecard and send it to me in world, just make sure to name it Glamourazzi. I'll pick the top three looks and post those pictures in the blog next week!
What are you waiting for? Show me how you'd take YOUR corset out of the bedroom!

Oops! I got a little G.L.A.M. on my LAP

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

While sitting around on my beach earlier this week, I received in inventory offer from Dove Swanson of Long Awkward Pose. Now, I love Dove dearly, but I have to admit that I was a little nervous about what could be in the folder tantalizingly named "Slippery." To my delight (and relief), it was a preview of her newest pose set. I wasted no time and immediately began an impromptu pose-off with my dog...what? she was the only one around!

Lots more after the jump...

I loaded the new goodies into my pose stand and my pose HUD(both from Tillie's...both fabulous!) and continued my inventory organization marathon...by the way, I was diligent and managed to trim off 5K by eliminating old notecards, duplicate landmarks, freebie gestures and storing some duplicates that had been lurking around, weighing me down. But I digress...

While putting clothes into their proper location, I came across my G.L.A.M. folder and realized it was woefully empty. Then I remembered that they were having a sale at one point so I sauntered over to see if the sale was still going on and, if not, were there any new releases. Luckily for me, the sale was still on so I loaded up on some great mix and match pieces and fat packs (at 200-300 L$ per pack, how could I pass it up?)

I chose two outfits from this G.L.A.M-apolooza that really seemed to fit the new Slipper pose set from Long Awkward pose.

The first outfit, at the top of the post, is a sleek pencil dress with a great black belt. To keep the look chic, I opted for only my black ChiChi Pumps from Maitreya and my favorite sunglasses as accessories.

The second outfit, a satin corset jumpsuit, just begged for a heavier hand in the accessories department so I added a great flowy belt, a stack of bracelets and a charm necklace. Oh, and check out the shoes! These are Pixel Mode's new Leeza Stiletto. They have a great little platform under the toe and fabulously high heels. I'm especially fond of the shiny, but not overpowering, texture.

Dove released the Slippery pose set this week, so head on over to Long Awkward Pose and pick it up. I'm starting to think this is my favorite of Dove's sets so far...then again, I say that with each new release...she's just that good.

I have no idea how long the sale at G.L.A.M. will continue, but you will want to run there right away and stock up on some great ready-to-wear outfits and inventory must-have separates.

Corset Beauty

Monday, May 19, 2008

It's Monday and you know what that means: Lingerie. Tonight I thought I'd talk about one of my favorite items of clothing, the corset. Traditional corsets were worn to modify a woman's shape and some do still wear those types of corsets. However, I'll be referring to the ones that have the sex appeal of a true corset without actually being painful to wear.

I looked high and low in this virtual plane we call our second home for a really good corset and after months of searching, I finally found it. Toxic's motto is "Fetish Meets Fashion" and I couldn't agree more. Their Red Silk Corset Set is a MUST have, ladies. It is the most detailed corset I've come across and it looks so authentic you almost want to reach out and touch it. ;) I absolutely LOVE this piece. Click the jump to see more photos of this and other fabulous corsets.

Speaking of detailed, look at the back of this corset. Isn't it simply stunning? I'm not sure there is anything more beautiful (speaking in terms of lingerie, of course) then a well made corset.

One of the other fun details of this corset is the prim lace along the top. You can wear it with:
Or without:

If you don't like red as much as I do, have no fear. It comes in yellow and white as well. Keep in mind that this is a set, so it comes with panties, garter belt, stockings, and shoes as well. How can you go wrong? Toxic also has several other styles of corsets available for you to choose from. Their underbust corsets are quite good if you prefer those.

I stumbled upon this corset from *DG* Innovations while on one of my many shopping excursions with my friend Rhodesy. This is part of a gown and you can buy the whole outfit or just the corset top.

I opted for just the top and in red, again, (are you sensing a color pattern yet?) but it comes in several different colors. Since I only got the corset, I had to hunt through my extensive inventory and come up with the rest of the outfit. Those LoveLace Millais panties go with almost everything, I swear. ;)

Last, but certainly not least, this gorgeous royal blue corset was a free gift I got at Baistaice just a few weeks ago.

Blue is not usually my color, obviously, but I just couldn't resist. I love how shiny it looks...just like satin. For this look, I paired it with the Sonatina panties from a Blaze dress I have (also a free gift) and the ZHAO Chelle shoes in silver. Those, however, were not free.

So now you have seen three of my favorite corsets. On Thursday, we'll take the corsets out of the bedroom when I show you how I managed to create unique outfits using these same three corsets and various other pieces from my wardrobe.

Corsets are sexy and sensual, the creme de la creme of lingerie, and these three are a really good way to start building up that lingerie wardrobe!

My Personal Trainers

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Call them what you will...trainers, sneakers, tennies, running shoes...I love them! And I'm especially a fan of good old Converse All Stars. (You just can't beat a great pair of Chuck Taylors!) So, when I saw these sneakers on Sofia's blog, I immediately jumped on Pyper with a torrent of ZOMG's and Squeee's. I knew right away that I had to have a pair...and they are every bit as fabulous as I had hoped.

To showcase the shoes, I decided to put together a totally casual and comfortable look, perfect for lounging at the house and trying to get a little work done.

Keep reading after the jump...

I headed out to DeLa* where I picked up this great tank and scarf combo. I love shorts, so I was having trouble deciding between the cute and baggy black ones or the totally comfy cargo shorts. Which do you prefer?

Let's talk about the shoes. These are from Urban Bomb Unit and are the PornStar Xtra Hi-Tops and they are Unisex. Every piece of the shoe is modifiable via a scripted menu. You can modify the size, wear them straight up or folded down, change any of the textures individually, change the laces, the lace rings...everything! I had so much fun mixing and matching textures and in then end, for this look, I settled on a very tame Falu Red and Burberry Plaid.

The attention to detail on these shoes is fantastic. Check out the scuff marks on the toe of the shoe...even a little handwritten "I heart my shoes" written in ballpoint pen. I mean, who didn't write on their shoes in high school?!?

So, if you need to give your tootsies a break, slip your feet into these adorable shoes...and then have fun playing around with the options to make them uniquely yours.

Oh, and while putting this look together, I couldn't help but stop in AnaLu and pick up some new poses...yeah, like all of them (gasp!). Ana Lutetia makes some great poses and even offers a free-to-use photo studio at her main store location. And if you really want to keep up with all of the new releases, be sure to check her blog...this girl is quick! quick! quick! when it comes to reviewing all of the latest and greatest from SL fashion designers.
